Rainier Companies' new venture will operate as an independent entity under the Dallas-headquartered firm’s portfolio.

Commercial real estate investment firm Rainier Companies has launched a new venture focused on retail-driven, mixed-use development projects.

The new endeavor, Rainier Development Company, will operate as an independent entity under the firm’s portfolio. The Dallas-headquartered company appointed David Neher president of the venture.

Neher most recently led Lincoln Property’s national retail platform, focusing on mixed-use development. Throughout his career, he’s led over 8 million square feet of retail and mixed-use development projects across the country.

“Standing on the shoulders of a mentor and incredible partners, I’ve been blessed to participate in some of the most dynamic mixed-use projects in the United States,” Neher said in a prepared statement. “Knowing (Rainier Companies CEO) Danny Lovell personally and having had the pleasure of collaborating on numerous initiatives, I’m honored to be entering into this partnership. Additionally, I’m excited to join the Rainier team and be part of one of our industry's most dynamic growth stories.”

Established in 2003, Rainier is a national firm investing in a variety of commercial real estate properties such as hotels and offices. The company has closed in excess of $2.5 billion of investment assets since its founding and currently has an operating portfolio of over $1.6 billion.

A federal filing earlier this year showed that Rainier is seeking to raise $6.5 million in equity for its “Rainier Sherman Park Investors, LP” fund.
